[Data Collection]
Description
The dataset comes from a pilot minimum dataset of older adult care home residents in England, UK.
The MDS includes data from (1) digital social care records (DCSRs) collected by care homes* and (2) routinely collected health and social care administrative data.
*The study involved care homes using DCSR software from two DCSR software providers. We worked with the software providers to extract data for participating residents / care homes.
The original research aims were to (1) understand the feasibility of generating a care home minimum dataset from routinely-collected data (2) to explore the feasibility and acceptability of inclusion of individual-level quality of life outcome measures – as well as the psychometric properties of these QoL measures to guide selection for the MDS and (3) to show the potential use and benefits of a MDS.
This anonymised version of the MDS pilot dataset contains two waves of data (Wave 1: March-June 2023 and Wave 2: October to Nov 2023). The study collected data from 996 residents of older adult care homes. This dataset includes data from 705 residents only, due to restricting to residents in Wave 1 with an age >= 65 years.
